Description

The 100 meters sprint is a track and field event in which athletes run 100 meters in a straight line from a starting position with their feet on starting blocks. It is one of the most prestigious events in athletics and in the Olympic Games, and is considered the premier event in track and field.

The 100 meters sprint requires great speed and explosiveness, as well as proper starting and running technique. Athletes must be well-trained and physically and mentally prepared to compete in this event.

The current men's world record in the 100 meters sprint is 9.58 seconds, set by Usain Bolt at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in Berlin. The current women's world record is 10.49 seconds, set by Florence Griffith-Joyner at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
